It’s probably a little bit of that, people trying to find at least ONE good thing. (I mean in that case, one good thing is the game did LOOK nice I guess, but I can do without going overboard on the paper/cardboard style), but also just because some people really like that musical style. No disrespect to them, but personally, it just is REALLY not for me.
Part of it is probably because I played 64 and TTYD at pivotal points of growing up so that nostalgia factor is STRONG, but I just think the vision for the Paper Mario series was more focused back then, as silly as it sounds. Making everything bright and jazzy constantly really just dumbs down the subject matter. It’s gotta be dynamic!
